Variegated Holly Hedging
Ooh, evergreen hedging which isn’t just green!
That’s right, you can brighten up your garden not only during the summer when the flowers are in bloom, but when your in the thick of winter too, with that extra sparkle of variegated holly! They offer all the same benefits of standard green holly, but with a silver or gold look to what could be a different shade of green. Its not for everyone or the whole garden, but can work well on its own or to break up different shades of green from other hedges.
So what is variegated holly like?
Ilex can be deciduous or evergreen shrubs and trees with often spiny leaves, small flowers and, on female plants, showy berries in autumn.
‘Argentea Marginata’ is a medium-sized evergreen tree of conical outline, with spiny, undulate leaves boldly edged with cream and tinged pink when young. Flowers small, dull white; berries bright red.
